Diplomacy and United States Foreign Policy: What Ambassadors and Embassies Do for You

Ever wonder what the role of ambassadors and embassies is in our modern world? Village resident and retired Ambassador James Knight will discuss how international diplomacy promotes the security and economy of the United States, and in particular, how international diplomacy directly supports the economy of Tennessee.
Ambassador Knight will explain what ambassadors do, how they are selected, and how embassies and consulates abroad are structured and function. He will use examples especially from his African experience as U.S. Ambassador to Benin and U.S. Ambassador to Chad, as well as his role as Assistant Chief of Mission in Iraq, his service in Washington D.C., and his many other diplomatic assignments overseas.
